Kyrgyzstan – Rukh Ordo complex

Rukh Ordo complex in Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬

Here on the shore of the Issyk-Kyl magnificent Lake, on a crossroad to China and Kazakhstan, the Rukh Ordo celebrates the religious diversity and tolerance of Kyrgyzstan and Eurasia in general.

Many religions are represented here but so are hallmarks of Kyrgyzstan’s unique heritage such as Balbals, a memorial to the emblematic Kyrgyz writer Chinghiz Aitmatov and a temple to Manas, the hero of the eponymous epics.

This is probably the hardest and most interesting to grasp in Kyrgyzstan : its situation as a landlocked bridge, one need still to distinct between the multiple layers of what is Eurasian and what is unique in Kyrgyzstan’s heritage.
